GREAT question. (and yes, social drinking is FIRMLY tied to western culture in general.)

In my experience, at least in Europe, not really because there are SOOOO many options for teetotalers compared to the US. And oftentimes, my date will choose a non-alcoholic beverage because I'm not drinking. (it's also a funny convo topic. 😉) Late-night cafes, lounges, etc. have tons of options. And major cities have late night boba, gelato, etc.

It also depends on your dating preferences. I could care less if my partner drinks, but if they regularly drink excessively, that's a turnoff to me.
