And I agree 100% with your takeaways (and I've been mulling over this decision as well lately). All the things that energized me about Medium a year ago are what are driving me nuts. Results are even more unpredictable than before and my earnings — while writing the same number of articles (if not more) and maintaining great quality — have tanked. Now, articles don't really gain any traction. It's kind of like hitting a golf ball without dimples: it starts flying and then it dies.
