I Stopped Drinking Alcohol 6 Years Ago—Here Are The Lessons Learned

“To alcohol! The cause of—and solution to—all of life’s problems.”

— Homer Simpson

All joking aside, no, I don't think alcohol is “bad.”

(Or, as Homer hilariously said, the cause of “all of life's problems.”)

Some people think I stopped drinking because I'm anti-alcohol, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

I like beer. I like wine. I like spirits.

I just made a decision to stop.

I’ll explain what happened and what it taught me—and if you’re planning to do the same, I’ll share what will (most likely) happen when you make the jump and how to prepare. (Of course, if you’re suffering from alcoholism, that’s a completely different story.)

It Makes Life Easier

People ask if I stopped drinking for health reasons. (I used to be a personal trainer so they thought it was related.)

Nope.

Sure, drinking isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but a few beers or glasses of wine every week is no biggie.

(The wild thing is people in the fitness industry actually drink a ton.)
